River-front municipalities and state parks include Ashland, Bridgewater, Bristol, Campton, Franconia, Franconia Notch State Park, Franklin, Hill, Holderness, New Hampton, Plymouth, Sanbornton and Thornton. To check if an address is in the designated river corridor, use the designated river mapper.

The Pemigewasset River was designated in 1991 and spans 70 miles, with one gap in the designation, from Franconia Notch State Park to its confluence with the Winnipesaukee River in Franklin. The Pemigewasset and Winnipesaukee rivers then join to become the Merrimack River. The majority of the Pemigewasset River corridor is undeveloped, resulting in good water quality and many relatively undisturbed natural resources.
